Cienciano Beats Boca Juniors, Wins Recopa9/7/2004 - FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Goalkeeper Oscar Ibanez made two saves and Cienciano of Peru converted four kicks to beat Argentina's Boca Juniors 4-2 on penalty kicks after a 1-1 tie and win the 2004 Recopa championship Tuesday night.
Ibanez stopped Carlos Tevez's attempt and then secured the victory when he denied Fabian Vargas on Boca Juniors' fourth attempt in the penalty kick round. Sergio Ibarra, Carlos Lobaton, Guillermo Portilla and Santiago Acaciete each converted for Cienciano.
